The Journey of my Daughter's Acute Acne
With the start of puberty at the age twelve, came the start of acne for my daughter Esther. To start with it was just on the t-zone, but as time progressed, so did the acne, moving to her cheeks and causing quite bad scarring. I have to say that she dealt with this quite maturely and would resist the urge to cover with make-up during the day. However, when all your friends seem to have perfect skin, it wasn’t always easy to feel up-beat and positive.
We went to the doctors several times and started off with steroid cream that basically just stripped the colour out of her bedsheets. We then progressed to antibiotics and cream. The antibiotics appeared to work but the cream dried her skin out so much that it drove her to tears. After a couple of courses of antibiotics and persevering with the cream, the skin improved a little and gave hope. She then had a break but unfortunately within a couple of months the acne had returned with a vengeance. It doesn’t help that Esther dances and at times does need to wear heavy stage make-up.
At the beginning of 2018, Esther’s skin was at its worst and she was referred to a dermatologist, who again put her on antibiotics but this time they didn’t even touch it! The next step would have been to start a course of the drug Roaccutane, which has a list of do’s and don’ts as long as your arm. One of which is regular blood tests, which is a real no-no to someone with an acute fear of needles!
In May, whilst discussing Esther’s condition with my hairdresser, she told me she had heard of a product through another Client of hers that was very effective and put me in touch with the company, ES Skincare. I purchased the product, Problem & Blemished Skin Lotion which has been so simple to use. Apply 2/3 times a day. Esther stopped all the other creams and antibiotics to just use the lotion. This has been the best decision ever made. It is now October and the Acne is clear and the scarring is healing. The photos tell her story. My beautiful daughter’s skin is finally clear of acne – something she only ever dreamed of.
